In postwork, the image did "pop" better when I increased contrast, but then you lose the atmosphere effect. That said, one of the downsides of using atmosphere (aside from increased render time), is that it washes out the scene. It all made for a dammed long render time, even for me who currently renders using a hex-core cpu. Indirect lighting, depth of field, and atmosphere were all used here to increase realism. In terms of lighting, most of it comes from two point lights parented to the torches. The redheaded character Alis is tried and true, the outfit for Bala was something relatively new, put together from about 3-4 different outfits, with textures adjusted to match. I also used the grouping tool to pull its components apart (a wall here, some pebbles there), to throw them around and vary the scene. The background set is StoneMason's Greek Column set (years old, but high quality), multiplied 7-8 times and spread around to look much larger than it is. It certainly wasn't a "load figure press art button" scene. Oddly enough there's a ton of work that went into this one. You may catch some details that otherwise would be missed. For allowing a fourm in which I can satisfy the drop of artisitc creativity in me, I am most grateful to the Renderosity staff and community.Īt TD-0013: Thanks for the comment, I'd suggest you look at this one at DeviantArt at full size if you haven't already to take a closer look. All in all however, all that I want is that people who wish it may view, comment on, and most of all enjoy the fruits of my labour when it comes to rendering. From there I found renderosity, got poser, etc. Why did I get into rendering? well one day I stumbled on to Wyrmmasters homepage. You can see the progress in each gallery post, which is why I like to keep all my gallery posts, good bad or ugly, as a record of just how much i've learned. Since then i've picked up some tricks for poser and photoshop. Yes, that's the story i'm sticking to! When I started out here I rarely did postwork and knew nothing of rendering. There is of course much more to me than that sort of thing, lets just say that poser has had a tendency to lead me in that direction when expressing myself through rendering. That said, I try my best and try to learn more whenever possible.Ī look at my gallery will reveal a good deal of sci-fi pin up posts (to put it politely). For me, rendering is a hobby and as such my renders may not be of the caliber of some of the other wonderful (real) artists on this site.
